Opti-Trans has been developed in close cooperation with the following German hospitals:

  • The Saarland Academic Hospital in Homburg has 1500 beds and more than 100 buildings spread over a large campus. A staff of approx. 4000 are committed to health care and administrative matters. The central dispatch office is responsible for the transport of about 76.000 patients annually (transports are provided using the hospital's own ambulances). SAP ISH-MED is the hospital information system (HIS) in use at the hospital. Presently, the hospital is planning to integrate wireless LAN in Opti-Trans as a communication mode for the transport staff.

  • The Municipal Hospital Frankfurt am Main-Hchst is a large hospital with 1200 beds and a staff of 1800. The hospital has a main building that is connected to several neighbouring buildings via underground alleyways. The transport service department is responsible for approx. 40.000 transports of patients annually (transports are provided on foot). The hospital uses the HIS ORBIS of the software company GWI. The preferred communication mode between Opti-Trans and the transport staff is the hospital intranet and DECT (Digital European Cordless Telephone).

Opti-Trans is a web application that has been developed
in Java. This allows running the tool under any standard operating system
and renders a client installation unnecessary.
